I look at those curtains and I think how beautifully they have been made, with love and care, two years down the line, thank you for such lovely work.
We cannot recommend Louise highly enough. We are so delighted with our curtains, blinds and cushions. They have transformed our rooms. Right from the initial meeting to discuss our ideas and treatments for the spaces, to recommending and discussing fabrics, through to the final fittings and beautifully finished results. Louise is a real pleasure to work with. The exceptionally high-quality finish and personal service are second to none. Thank you very much.
Louise didn’t just make our curtains and blinds to our specification, she advised us and ultimately made what we were doing something that genuinely gives us pleasure every day. And it didn’t cost a penny more, in fact, the fabric we chose, in the end, was cheaper than the one we started off thinking we wanted!
A friend recommended Louise and I didn’t honestly appreciate how much of a difference she would make. It was the whole service of advice and ideas and then the quality of what you get is just something you can tell is on a different level to anything you can get out of a John Lewis or the obvious places.
We’ve tried many different curtains and blinds providers over the years, John Lewis, Laura Ashley and some of the cheaper online providers. However, we have never been so satisfied as when we found Louise Cowan. Hers is a personal service so that you can make sure that you get the best window covering suitable to your taste and budget without any expensive mistakes. Her blinds and curtains are also the very best quality. She’s now our ‘go to’ windows and blinds person!
I have been delighted by the curtains and blinds for the two bedrooms, so pleased in fact that I look forward to you returning this year to tackle more of the rooms.
I asked Louise to create some blinds for our dining room bay window. I had already chosen my London themed fabric, however, Louise added her own ideas and suggestions that were completely inspiring, including backing the blind with a vintage ticking, visible from the outside and that not only wholly complemented the main fabric but my own style. Her bespoke workmanship is wonderful, her eye for detail scrupulous, her manner and delivery warm and friendly but always very professional, with everything being made and delivered on time and to quote. There is still never a day goes by when I don’t look at those blinds with love!
Louise created beautiful blinds and pelmets for our newly decorated bedroom. They really are the perfect finishing touch. Fabric swatches were waiting for us when we returned from holiday and the job was completed within a few weeks. Excellent service, thank you!

Look at these 4 slightly different colour ways of this semi-sheer, bobble, textured fabric, how dreamy are they? The playful texture and delicate translucency make them so versatile. I’ve got so many ideas for these beauties, like:
Cushions – add a pop of texture to your sofa or bed. Curtains – perfect for a soft, light-filtering look that still makes a statement or you could add interlining to make a really textured, luxurious statement. Roman blinds - would look super textured and beautiful. A bed runner - made from this fabric could be the perfect finishing touch, adding layers and visual interest with its unique texture.
What would you like to create with this fabric? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear your ideas…..
Hand-stitched perfection in progress ✨Here, I’m sewing a herringbone stitch to connect the hem to the interlining of a curtain. Interlining is a fleece like layer that’s added between the fabric and lining, and it plays a big role in creating luxurious, high-quality curtains.
Why does it matter? Interlining adds warmth by insulating your windows, softens sound, and gives the curtain its beautiful drape. By hand stitching, I avoid the puckering and stiffness that machines can create, ensuring the fabric hangs smoothly and elegantly. It’s a slower process, but the result is a curtain that feels bespoke, refined, and built to last….
The difference is in the details. 💫 #HandStitchedCurtains #CustomMade #HerringboneStitch #LuxuryInteriors
For me, details aren’t just small touches, they’re what bring everything together. In interiors, they transform a space from ordinary to unforgettable, creating a feeling that lasts. Whether it’s the softness of a cushion, the curve of a vase, or handmade napkins at a party, it’s these thoughtful choices that make all the difference….
Bring the warmth of Autumn indoors by taking inspiration from nature’s colours. Think golden yellows, rusts, deep browns, and pops of green. Mix cosy textures like velvet, wool, and woven fabrics to create a layered, inviting look. Try pairing larger, leafy patterns with smaller checks or plains to balance it all, capturing the richness of Autumn without overwhelming your space. Embrace the beauty with a blend of textures, patterns, and colours that make your home feel cosy and somewhere you never want to leave 🍂
Here’s a little peek behind the scenes of making a curtain from start to finish! So many steps go into getting it just right, from cutting and pinning to stitching every seam, all by hand and sewing machine. It’s a real mix of patience, precision, and a whole lot of care. Every fold, every hem, every detail is done to make sure it’s exactly as it should be. When you invest in something handmade, you’re not just getting a curtain, you’re getting all the thought and skill poured into it….
Bringing some London vibes into this custom bench seating area in my clients kitchen. Upholstered in Croydon Tramline fabric, from @ltmuseum it’s not just a seat, it’s a little piece of city history. I loved creating this unique piece for a bold, one of a kind look…

Creating a custom Roman blind is more than just sewing, it’s about precision, quality, and the art of turning fabric into a beautifully tailored piece that transforms any space.
Each Roman blind starts with careful fabric selection and measuring to fit the unique dimensions of your window. I meticulously measure to the millimeter to ensure the blind fits perfectly, taking into account any folds and seams that add character to the design.
Next, I hand cut the fabric, ensuring that patterns align seamlessly. Attention to detail is key, especially when working with patterned fabrics, so the final piece looks harmonious from every angle.
Once the fabric is prepped, I sew the blind by hand, taking special care with each seam. The interlining and lining is added, enhancing both the durability and finish of the blind, as well as providing light control and insulation.
A crucial part of a Roman blind’s structure is the rod pockets. These pockets hold thin rods, which help the blind fold evenly as it’s raised, creating those signature clean lines and smooth folds. Each pocket is precisely placed and sewn, guaranteeing the fabric moves effortlessly.
The final touch is attaching the blind to its header rail and adding the cord system, which is designed to lift smoothly with minimal effort. I ensure every cord is balanced, allowing for smooth raising and lowering without unevenness.
The end result? A custom, handmade Roman blind with a flawless fit, beautiful folds, and durability you can count on for years to come. It’s a piece crafted with care, designed to elevate your home with style and function….
Every detail matters when it comes to creating your perfect space. That’s why I personally handpick each sample fabric, doing all the research to find the most suitable options tailored to your style and needs. From selecting the finest materials to packaging them with care, I hand-deliver them to your door, so you can relax without lifting a finger. I’ll even come by to help you decide, making the process seamless and stress-free. It’s a truly personal service, designed to bring the showroom experience right to your door offering a level of care and attention that goes beyond the ordinary….
